“I didn't really want to share this, but...”

I put in a lot of research for the perfect place to stay in Nozawa Onsen and I shall be very unselfish here and share this with you...Kamoshika Lodge is the perfect spot. Don't bother anywhere else, if you want to be in a modern and comfortable lodge on the snow, near the lifts, near an amazing cafe with the best coffee and craft beers, near enough to Oyu Rd and most importantly, near someone who will help you with almost any request to make your stay memorable, then it's Kamoshika. And that someone is David - thank you for your recommendations and sharing your wonderful lodge. The boys are still raving about their holiday...we had the best time and we will definitely be back!

“perfectly positioned lodge”

We have stayed here 3 times now and travel as a group of 3, 4 or even 5 families and we all manage to fit in here with no trouble. Dave and Sachi are really helpful and friendly and will help you arrange delivery of food, beer etc. The skiing is fantastic (some of the best powder in the world) and the village seems to retain a lovely Japanese feel despite the tourists. We went during the fire festival week this year and even then it was not too busy. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who loves skiing and also wants a place to stay right on the slopes. Stayed January 2017, traveled with friends

Best holiday ever

I visited Kamoshika with a group of 9 friends. Everything about this place was great. The staff were incredible and completely bent over backwards to accommodate our every need. Super comfy beds, spacious rooms, everything clean and tidy all the time..nothing like having a nice hot shower looking out at the snow falling on the ski hill. I met Dave the owner, he gave us lots of assistance on the best places to go around town for dining and entertainment, what great guy....he even allowed me to borrow his mobile phone charging deck...just a guy who goes above and beyond the call of duty...Thumbs Up!! The lodge is the best placed lodge on the entire mountain. It is about 80m from the main Gondola to get up the mountain.....yes it is ski in ski out...loving that!! There is a great little bar for breakfast and pre dinner beers about 50m away and there is also ski hire about 70m away. So everything is super close and easy to get too. We walked into town each night in about 5-7 minutes. Book me in for 2017!!

Amazing Village, Fabulous Hosts, Incredible Experience

Had the pleasure of being in Japan before but never have been outside of Tokyo. I had always wanted to explore the countryside of Japan and jumped at the opportunity when my husband mentioned a ski resort in Nozawa. My husband and daughter are avid skiers/snowboarders, (me not so much), but if it were to get me to Japan, I was onboard!! Not sure what to expect or how I would be occupying my time while they were skiing (I would do a few runs here and there), however, I could not have been more thrilled or more surprised as to what we had stumbled upon. The lodge was beautiful......modern, clean, fully stocked with every need prepared for and most importantly, welcoming. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted by our hosts, David and Sachi and after settling into our room we joined them in the kitchen area where they kindly and thoroughly explained and shared all that they and the Village had to offer. The skiing, (the ski lifts are directly outside their front door!!), beautiful Onsens in the Village, incredible shrines, foot baths, stores, and restaurants...all within walking distance. We spent the week skiing (I went more than I expected b/c it was so easy and the skiing was the best I have ever experienced....even lunch on the mountain was unparalleled). David and Sachi recommended restaurants that we never would have found on our own and helped with every aspect of our stay. One of my favorite spots was a bar and coffee house which sat caddy corner to the Kamoshika lodge with the best coffee and drinks (my day began and ended in the Craft Room.....highly recommend the Japanese bloody Mary's). There is so much offered here and it is a place and experience that I will never forget and that I hope to experience over and over again.
